Resume tips for this job

Common questions

Do I need an MBA to be an investment banker?

Not to start, but increasingly required for advancement. Many analysts start with a bachelor's degree, work 2-3 years, then pursue MBA before moving to associate roles. If you're targeting analyst roles at smaller boutiques or post-MBA associate roles, target MBA programs now.

How important is deal size to highlight?

Moderately important. A $50M deal for a small company is different from a $50M add-on acquisition to a $500M platform. Show both deal count and value, and mention deal types and complexity. Three complex $400M transactions beats 20 small $50M deals for senior roles.
