Resume tips for this job
- Link to your music mixes on SoundCloud, Mixcloud, or YouTube; don't describe them on paper
- Include your social media following if substantial: '35K Instagram followers' adds credibility
- Specify venue sizes and event types: 'headline 2,000 capacity clubs, 50,000 person festivals'
- List equipment you're proficient on: Pioneer CDJ, Technics turntables, vinyl mixing
- Mention music production experience if applicable, which shows additional technical depth
Common questions
Do I need a DJ certificate to get booked?
No. Venue bookings depend on your reputation, track record, and audience draw, not credentials. A certificate is useful for learning but won't substitute for live performance experience or references from venues.
Should I include my social media following on my resume?
Yes, if you have 10K+ followers. Social presence signals reach and marketability. If your following is under 5K, skip it and focus on venue experience instead.
How do I highlight my mixes without embedding audio files?
Link to your music platforms: SoundCloud, YouTube, or Mixcloud. Put the URL prominently in your contact section or summary. Bookers won't watch embedded files; they'll click your links.
